This policy describes how Peekaboop collects, uses, and protects your information.

What Peekaboop Does

Peekaboop is a photo editing service that uses AI to add hats and sunglasses to children's faces in your photos, helping protect their privacy when you share photos online.

Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign in, we collect your email address and account identifier from your authentication provider (e.g., Google, Apple).

Photos You Upload: When you use Peekaboop, you upload photos that we process using artificial intelligence to generate edited images.

Usage Information: We may collect information about how you use the app, such as which features you use and when you use them.

How We Process Your Photos

Third-Party AI Processing: We use Google Vertex AI to process your photos and generate edited images. When you upload a photo, it is securely sent to Google's servers for AI processing.

No Training on Your Photos: Neither Peekaboop nor Google uses your photos to train AI models. Your images are never used to improve AI systems.

Temporary Caching: Google may cache data in-memory for up to 24 hours for performance purposes, but does not store your photos persistently on disk.

Data Retention

Uploaded Photos: Uploaded photos are stored temporarily while you're using the app and deleted as soon as they're no longer needed for the editing process.

Generated Images: Edited photos are available for download during your session and then deleted.

Account Data: Your account information (email, authentication details) is retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is removed within 30 days.

Credits and Transaction History: Records of credit purchases and usage are retained for accounting and legal compliance purposes for up to 7 years.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Authenticate your account and provide access to the service

• Process photos and generate edited images

• Manage your credits and track usage

• Communicate with you about the service

• Improve Peekaboop through aggregated, anonymized usage data

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your personal data on the following legal bases:

Contract: To provide the Peekaboop service you've requested

Legitimate Interest: To improve our service and prevent abuse

Consent: Where you've given explicit consent for specific processing

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

• Encrypted transmission of photos to and from Google's servers

• Secure authentication

• Access controls limiting who can view your account data

• Regular security assessments

However, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

Sharing Your Information

We Do Not Sell Your Data: We will never sell your personal information or photos to third parties.

Service Providers We Use:

• Google Vertex AI: AI image processing (see "How We Process Your Photos" above)

• Google Cloud (Europe West 1): Server hosting and infrastructure

• Firebase Authentication: Account authentication and sign-in

• Google Analytics: Usage analytics

All service providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for providing services to Peekaboop.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed on Google's servers globally. When we transfer data outside the UK/EU, we rely on Google's standard data protection commitments and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), which Google has in place as part of its cloud and Firebase services.

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you

• Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data

• Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")

• Right to Restriction: Request we limit how we use your data

• Right to Data Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format

• Right to Object: Object to our processing of your data

• Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)

• Right to Complain: Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk

How to Exercise Your Rights: Contact us at privacy@peekaboop.co.uk with your request. We will respond within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

Peekaboop is designed to protect children's privacy in photos. However, users must be at least 13 years old to create an account and use the service.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe someone under 13 has created an account, please contact us immediately at alex@peekaboop.co.uk and we will delete the account.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to provide and improve Peekaboop:

Essential Cookies: Required for login and authentication (via Firebase). These cannot be disabled as they are necessary for the service to work.

Analytics Cookies: We use Google Analytics to understand how people use Peekaboop. This helps us improve the service. You can opt out of analytics cookies through our cookie consent banner.

What We Don't Use: We do not use third-party tracking pixels, advertising cookies, or marketing cookies.

Your Control: When you first visit Peekaboop, you'll see a cookie consent banner where you can accept or decline analytics cookies. You can change your preferences at any time in your account settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will:

• Post the new policy on our website

Continued use of Peekaboop after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
